Klimt filly wins debut on Colonial Downs turf

Top-five First-Crop sire Klimt chalked up his ninth winner on Aug. 25 when Eiswein won a one-mile maiden turf race at Colonial Downs.

The dark bay filly was a 2 1/2-length winner off a stalking trip. Given her cue entering the stretch, she loomed up three-wide to contest the lead. She got to the front with a furlong to go and then drew off smartly to win by 2 1/2-lengths.

The winner is owned by Elements Racing and was bred in Kentucky by Rosilyn Polan and Bortolazzo Stables LLC. She is out of the Rock Hard Ten mare Sweetness Galore, whose half-brother Bold Hawk win the Hawthorne Derby (G3). Her second dam in Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1) winner Tribulation.

Klimt has a pair of stakes horses in addition to his nine winners, and ranks in the top five in both of those categories as well as by progeny earnings.
