Onyx scored for the third time in a row with her scintillating three-length win in the $75,000 Our Dear Peggy S. at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, also the second straight stakes score for the 2-year-old Dialed In filly.
Onyx, winner of the $117,000 Sharp Susan S. on Aug. 31, is undefeated in three starts on the turf and has earned $159,525 for owner/breeder Arindel.
As she’s done in most of her races, Onyx was well off the early pace in the Our Dear Peggy, not commencing her move until entering the far turn, when she passed horses three-wide to strike the front at the top of the stretch. She kicked away in the lane and was never seriously threatened to the wire.
Onyx is out of Youbetshecan, a half-sister to the $4.6 million earner Best Pal.
Dialed In is a leading Fourth-Crop sire with 14 stakes horses to date in 2019, while his progeny earnings are over $4.4 million.
