A filly from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Bee Jersey earned a top bid of $120,000 during Friday’s closing session of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, going to trainer Patrick Biancone.
Consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc., agent and cataloged as hip No. 954, the price was 24 times Bee Jersey’s stud fee. Emerald Equine acquired the filly for $10,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton October Yearling sale.
“She’s a very good mover,” said Biancone. “She worked extremely well (21 seconds flat at the under tack show), was 100% clean on the vet exam, and had a lovely attitude when showing. It was no question for us that we wanted her.”
The filly is the first foal out of the More Than Ready mare Ready for Gold, whose dam Sheba Gold is a half sister to champion Perfect Soul (IRE).
With a current 2-year-old sales average of $124,250, Bee Jersey ranks in the top 10 among all First-Crop sires. The Met Mile (G1) winner stands at Darby Dan for $5,000 S&N.
