Possiblemente took the lead with less than a sixteenth to run to win Saturday’s $150,000 Jacques Cartier S. (G3) at Woodbine for his first career stakes win.
The 6-year-old son of Tale of Ekati has been remarkably consistent throughout his career, posting a record of 10-7-4 in 32 career starts, while earning $466,348 for owner. The chestnut is currently owned by Taylor Logan’s T and E Racing.
Facing six foes in the six-furlong Cartier, Possiblemente was fourth early behind a trio of dueling frontrunners. Around the turn, he was boxed in between horses and waiting for room to run. Switched into the four path turning for home, Possiblemente found clear running and with a determined effort passed Western Whirl in deep stretch to win by a length in 1:10.01 on the synthetic surface.
“I’ve got to give all the credit to [trainer] Joe [Sharp], bringing and shoring this horse up,” said winning rider Eswan Flores. “I think that was one of the best things anybody could have done for this horse.”
Possiblemente is the 16th black-type winner and fifth graded winner for Tale of Ekati. The chestnut gelding represents three generations of Charles Fipke mares and hails from the same family as Grade 1 winner Internallyflawless.
