Dialed In’s fleet-footed mare Striker Has Dial returned from an eight-month layoff with a front-running score in Saturday’s $125,000 Skipat S. at Laurel Park as part of the Preakness (G1) undercard.
Away since winning the Endine S. at Delaware Park last September, Striker Has Dial showed no signs of rust in Saturday’s six-furlong affair. She was going along comfortably as she set fractions of :22.47 and :45.76. She turned for home with a one-length lead and extended that to nearly two length over Benedetta at the finish.
“She’s always a forward running filly,” said trainer Horacio De Paz. “It was just a matter of if we had enough fitness. She’d been training so good. Ricardo [Santana] fit her perfect. There’s not a better rider than Ricardo riding the front end on a speed horse. Now we’ve got to plan the next spot. We have options.”
Owned by Chief Horse Futures LLC, Striker Has Dial is 5-5-2 in 15 starts and has earned $438,572. She was bred in Kentucky by Kingswood Farm and her dam Lotta Lolly is a full sister to Grade 1 winner Square Eddie.
Dialed In is the sire of 85 stakes horses lifetime, with more than $60 million in progeny earnings. He stands the 2026 season for $10,000 S&N.
