Tapiture’s Repo Rocks scores second straight stakes victory

Repo Rocks surged past Five Dreams in deep stretch to win the Jan. 4 Blitzen S. at Parx by three-quarters of a length.

The now 5-year-old got his first stakes win on Nov. 23, also at Parx, in his most recent start. The dark bay’s record is an even 6-6-6 in 31 starts, with earnings of $488,371 for the Double B Racing Stables.

Repo Rocks was several lengths off the pace in the first quarter-mile, then began to close the gap on the leaders going into the turn, He split horses with three furlongs to go and set sights on Five Dreams, who was three lengths in front turning for home. With a determined effort, Repo Rocks got the better of his foe in the final strides to finish the six furlongs on the sloppy going in 1:11.39.

Tapiture, who is standing the 2023 season for $7,500, had 159 individual winners of 261 races in 2022, easily the most for any Fourth-Crop sire in the past year.
