Tapiture juvenile earns first stakes victory

Flashfordani drew off smartly in the stretch to win the Birdcatcher S. at Century Mile by a widening 3 1/2-lengths on Sept. 3 in what was the first stakes win for the 2-year-old son of Tapiture.

Flashfordani is one of nine stakes horses this year for Tapiture, who leads all Third-Crop sires by both winners, with 98, and wins with 127.

Flashfordani pushed Asyoubelieve through the first five furlongs, then overtook the pacesetter and drew clear to win with authority, covering seven furlongs in 1:24.15 on a fast track.

The dark bay has won two of his three starts for owner Irving Devey. Bred by Greg Tracy, Flashfordani is out of the Harlan’s Holiday mare Ave’s Halo, who won over a quarter-million dollars on the racetrack.
