Tapiture filly tallies second straight stakes victory

Vacherie Girl outfought Southern Liaison to win the $60,000 Louisiana Legends Soiress S. by a head on Independence Day at Evangeline Downs, giving the 3-year-old Tapiture filly her third lifetime stakes win and second one in as many starts.

Tracking the pace for the first five furlongs, Vacherie Girl locked up with Southern Liaison with about three furlongs to run. The two were side-by-side the rest of the trip, with Vacherie Girl getting the nod on the wire.

Owned by William and Corinne Heiligbrodt, Vacherie Girl is 4-0-1 in six starts and has earned $179,307. The winner was bred by Georgia Farms and is out of Saucey Officer, who has produced six foals, all winners.

Tapiture is the sire of four stakes horses in 2020 and leads all Second-Crop sires by winners with 33, and wins, with 42, to date.
