Vacherie Girl tallied her second stakes score in just five lifetime starts with her 3 1/2-length victory in Saturday’s Crescent City Oaks at Fair Grounds. The 3-year-old filly is Tapiture’s fourth stakes horse of the year, and is one of his 16 winners that have accounted for 20 wins, both tops among all Second-Crop sires.

Making her second starts of the year on Saturday, Vacherie Girl was three-wide on the first turn before making her way to the fence while in third for the backstretch run. She split horses coming into the stretch and made the lead with just over a furlong to run, when she pulled away to win convincingly (VIDEO).

She broke pretty good. She put herself in a good spot,” said winning rider Ricardo Santana, Jr. “I was just being a good passenger and she brought us to victory today.”

The winner is owned by William and Corinne Heiligbrodt and has earned $143,307 from a mark of 3-0-1. She was bred by Georgia Farms Inc.
