Tapiture filly gets first stakes win in Churchill’s Anchorage S.

Li’l Tootsie became Tapiture’s newest stakes winner on July 3 at Churchill Downs with a 3 ½-length victory in the inaugural running of the $160,000 Anchorage S.

The 4-year-old filly is Tapiture’s seventh stakes horse this year, and one of his 101 winners to date, which tops the Fourth-Crop Sire list by a wide margin.

L’il Tootsie started very well and dueled with The Mary Rose through a half-mile in :45.99. Around the turn, L’il Tootsie forged to the lead, then quickly opened up after straightening for home. She was all alone for the stretch run, finishing up the mile in 1:37.17 on a sealed muddy racetrack.

L’il Tootie is now 6-1-3 in 16 starts and has earned $458,974 for Joel Politi. The bay filly placed in both the Winning Colors S. (G3) in May and the 2021 Prioress S. (G2) at Saratoga.

Bred in Kentucky by Davant Latham, L’il Tootsie has three stakes winning siblings. Her dam Informative Style has an unraced 2-year-old by Tapiture named Tap in Formation.
