Flameaway’s Enfuega smokes foes in Aqueduct MdSpWt debut

When Enfuega crossed the finish line a 4 ½-length maiden special weight winner Sept. 28 at Aqueduct, she became the 13th First-Crop winner for Flameaway, and also pushed her sire’s progeny earnings to over $1 million.

With a pair of stakes winners bolstering his impressive list of winners, Flameaway is currently second on the First-Crop sire list.

Enfuega broke between horses but recovered quickly and took the lead in the first furlong. She led by a length through a half-mile in :46.32 and after getting a brief challenge in upper stretch, shook clear and drew off impressively to get the 6 ½-furlongs in 1:17.95 on a fast track.

The winner was bred by Go-To-Toga Racing LLC and sold for $180,000 at the 2022 Fasig-Tipton NY-Bred Preferred Yearlings sale. She is owned by Legion Racing, Gainesway Stable, Sheri Greenberg Racing and Christoper Meyer.
