Copper Bullet, whose first foals are 2-year-olds of 2023, made a big splash during Monday’s opening session of the OBS March Sale when hip No. 238 brought a top bid of $275,000.

The colt was consigned by S G V Thoroughbreds LLC (Steven Venosa), Agent and purchased by Kerri Radcliffe, agent.

A chestnut like his sire, the colt has an impeccable catalog page. His dam Amazement has produced a trio of winners, topped by Colonel Liam, who has won more than $1.8 million and took consecutive runnings of the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1). Second dam Wonder Again banked over $1.4 million and was a two-time Grade 1 winner and is also the dam of millionaire Red Raven.

Copper Bullet, who won the Saratoga Special S. (G2) at two, stands for $7,500 this year at Darby Dan Farm.
