Reagan’s Flame, a 5-year-old daughter of Flameaway, tallied her second career stakes win Aug. 22 at Woodbine in the Seaway S. (G3), drawing off late to win by 3 ¼-lengths.
One of eight grade stakes winner for Flameaway, Reagan’s Flame won the Whimsical S. (G3) in May over the same Woodbine surface.
Facing a trio of foes, Reagan’s Flame was content to sit in second well off the fence as Uphill Dance led through a half-mile of :46.04. Just before turning for home, Reagan’s Flame began to close in on the pacesetter, who put up a good fight until the final sixteenth, when Reagan’s Flame asserted herself and drew off smartly for the win.
“She runs well on anything, but she’s gone to a whole other level on the Tapeta,” said winning trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr., who also noted that the Grade 2 Presque Isle Masters (September 18th) could be next up for Reagan’s Flame.
Reagan’s Flame improved to 8-5-2 from 23 career starts for her owners St Elias Stable, BAG Racing Stables LLC, Turf Express Inc and Watkins Diamond Stables LLC. She was bred in Kentucky by Jason Hall, Herschel Martindale & Stephen Mott.
