Chief Horse Futures’ Striker Has Dial and Kanojoa became the newest stakes winners for their sire Dialed In on Saturday, Sept. 27 with the former registering a wire-to-wire victory in the $150,000 Endine Stakes at Delaware Park and the latter impressively winning the Iowa Breeders’ Oaks at Prairie Meadows.
With Jaime Rodriguez aboard, Striker Has Dial broke well and established the front while receiving pressure from Alani on the outside. Striker Has Dial shook loose in the stretch to lead by two lengths and held Alani at bay to score by a neck at the finish.
“When we got to the three-eighths pole, I was watching the four horse [Alani], and once she got next to me, I let her go,” said winning rider Jaime Rodriguez. “She was waiting a little bit, but once the horse got next to her, she really kicked in.”
Bred in Kentucky by Kingswood Farm and trained by Horacio De Paz, Striker Has Dial is now a winner in 4-of-14 lifetime starts with earnings of $363,572. The dark bay or brown filly has hit the board in seven others. Striker Has Dial, who was a $180,000 Keeneland September Sale graduate in 2022, is produced from the winning Smart Strike mare Lotta Lolly.
Kanojo, with jockey Alberto Pusac in the irons, impressed with an eight-length score at Prairie Meadows. Owned by Reunion Racing Stables LLC, Arapahoe Thoroughbreds LLC and trainer Kevin Eikelberry, Kanojo was bred in Iowa by Crimson King Farm. Out of the Neko Bay mare Mywomanfromtokyo, Kanojo also captured this year’s Hawkeyes Handicap. All told, the chestnut filly is a winner in 7-of-9 lifetime starts and she has banked $326,078.
In addition to Striker Has Dial and Kanojo, Dialed In is represented this season by Watchatalkinabout, winner of the John A. Nerud Stakes (G3), and Train the Trainer, winner of the New York Derby.
