Higher Power has first mares confirmed in foal

Darby Dan Farm’s Higher Power, a Grade 1-winning millionaire by Medaglia d’Oro, has had his first mares confirmed in foal, the farm announced today.

Confirmed in foal is the first mare he bred on Feb. 11, Gold Club, a daughter of Majestic Warrior out of the Touch Gold mare Be Golden owned by Brandywine Farm.  Also confirmed in foal is Talking Audrey, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Love Theway Youare by Thunder Gulch—Diversa, by Tabasco Cat, who was bred on Feb. 12. Talking Audrey is owned by RAH Bloodstock.

A dominant 5 ¼-length winner of the 2019 Pacific Classic (G1) at Del Mar, Higher Power was a five-time winner of more than $1.5 million. In addition to his Pacific Classic victory, he also placed in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), Hollywood Gold Cup (G1), Awesome Again S. (G1), and the San Diego H. (G2).

By the elite sire Medaglia d’Oro, Higher Power was bred in Kentucky by Pin Oak Stud. He is out of the multiple stakes-winning Seattle Slew mare Alternate, who has also produced multiple Graded stakes-winning Alternation, winner of the Peter Pan S. (G2) and Oaklawn H. (G2), and sire of 2019 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Serengeti Empress.
