Train the Trainer, a 3-year-old son of Dialed In, rolled to a four-length win in Monday’s $150,000 New York Derby at Finger Lakes for his third consecutive victory.
Train the Trainer was in control of the 1 1/16-mile race from the outset, setting fractions of :47.60 and 1:12.24. When asked at the top of the stretch, he sprinted away from Hit the Post, who had been pressing him throughout, and coasted under the wire a clear-cut winner.
Owned by Alipony Racing and Saints or Sinners, Train the Trainer’s only blemish in four starts is a debut second-place finish to Goal Oriented, who is entered in this weekend’s Haskell (G1).
Train the Trainer was bred by Hibiscus Stables and is out of Heavenly Vision, who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and sire Cairo Prince.
Dialed In has six stakes horses in 2025, topped by John Nerud S. (G3) winner Whatchatakinabout and South American Grade 1 winner Eagle in Love.
