PEDIGREE ANALYSIS
Run Away And Hide
Alan Porter - Run Away And Hide is a Mr. Prospector line sire who has only one cross of Northern Dancer, and it appears in the sixth generation. So he is open to a variety of Northern Dancer line mares.

His sire, City Zip, is half brothers to champion, Ghostzapper, by Awesome Again, a son of Deputy Minister, therefore he should do well with Deputy Minister mares or mares by any of his sons (Dehere, Deputy Commander, French Deputy, Silver Deputy, Salt Lake, etc.). Also, mares that should go well with him are Storm Bird line mares, as they are responsible for no less than seven of Carson City’s stakes winners.

Special attention should be paid to his most prolific son Storm Cat and his sons. Not only does in infuse more speed into the pedigree, but allows line breeding to New Providence, the first Canadian Triple Crown winner. City Zip has also sired Celestial Legend a multiple stakes winner who is out of the Danzig’s son Polish Numbers. City Zip has also produced a Group I winner out of a Dixieland Band mare and a stakes winner out of a Northern Flagship mare. Carson City has also enjoyed success with Nureyev, Lyphard, Nijinsky II and Secreto. City Zip has already sired a stakes winner out of a mare by Phone Trick. It makes sense being that Phone Trick’s grandsire is Icecapade (3/4 genetic relative to Northern Dancer), so one should also look at these sons and grandsons.

Carson City and his sons have had success when crossed to the Bold Ruler line. City Zip has already produced two stakes horses out of Formal Dinner (by Raja Baba) mares. City Zip has also produced a stakes horse out of a D’Accord (by Secretariat) mare. Another branch of the Bold Ruler line that should not be overlooked as enjoying success with Carson City should be Seattle Slew. Carson City has also enjoyed success with the Nasrullah line, especially through Naskra and his descendants. This cross is responsible for Cuvee (out of a Star De Naskra mare), and City Zip has also produced a stakes horse out of a Carr De Naskra mare.

Carson City sired Grade I winner Carson Hollow when bred to a Hold Your Peace mare. Hold Your Peace also figures prominently in the pedigrees of Carson City’s graded stakes winners, Captain Squire, Abraaj and Leelanau. City Zip has also enjoyed success with Hold Your Peace’s son, Meadowlake, having produced two stakes winners.

City Zip has produced a graded stakes winner out of a mare by With Approval (by Caro). May also want to consider Caro’s other son Cozzene as a possibility. City Zip has produced a stakes winner by Java Gold (whose grand sire is Graustark); therefore should also consider Graustark’s full brother His Majesty as a viable option. City Zip has produced two stakes winners out of mares by sons of Alydar, and has also produced a Grade I winner out of a Prospector’s Gamble mare, and has three stakes winners by other Mr. Prospector lines, Seeking The Gold, Thunder Gulch and Distorted Humor.
