August 22, 2007 - Sir Gerry wins the Gimcrack!
Sir Gerry, consigned by Darby Dan Farm as a yearling, stormed to victory on Wednesday, August 22 at York, capturing the Ireland Gimcrack S. (Eng-G2) by three-quarters of a length. The 2-year-old colt by Carson City is out of Incredulous (FR), an Indian Ridge (IRE) mare owned by Dr. Catherine Wills, and was bred and raised at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky. After selling for $75,000 through the Darby Dan Sales consignment at the 2006 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the colt worked impressively at the Tattersalls Breeze-Up and posted a win in his debut race in July before establishing himself this week with a commanding drive from last place to first. Jockey Jamie Spencer calls him the best 2-year-old he's ever ridden.
Congratulations to Sir Gerry and all his connections on an impressive win.
