Regally-bred Tapiture colt rolls in Gulfstream opener

Ralston’s eye-catching win Dec. 21 at Gulfstream Park gave Tapiture his 27th First-Crop winner, tying him for the most on this year’s Freshman Sire list.

The chestnut colt was making his debut in the five-furlong maiden special weight race on the main track, and ran to his even-money odds. Away very well from the inside post, he was up two lengths at the midway point, and poured it on in the stretch to win by six in a solid :58 seconds flat on the “good” main track.

Ralston is owned by LLP Performance Horse LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Alejandro Leon. The chestnut colt is the first foal out of Foxbeau, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Tiz Gianni. This is the same family as two-time Horse of the Year Tiznow, Haskell S. (G1) winner Paynter, and Grade 2 winners Budroyale and Tizdubai.

Tapiture has added three new winners to his roster in the past week, as well as his second stakes winner, Vacherie Girl.
