HOW TO PLAY

For each of the Triple Crown races (Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont) participants will be given 50 Darby Dollars to "purchase" three (3) horses running in that particular race. All participants must purchase three (3) horses for their stable and the cost of any one horse will not exceed 30 Darby Dollars. Participants are not required to use all of their Darby Dollars, however please note that Darby Dollars left unused will NOT be carried forward to subsequent races.  Horse selections for the Preakness and Belmont will open as soon as morning line odds are poseted for each respective race.

SCORING

Each horse in a participant's stable will be awarded points based upon their respective finish position for each race. The total points available will be determined upon the number of entries for each race. The maximum points for each triple crown race is 100 - based upon a full field (20 Derby starters, 14 Preakness starters, 12 Belmont starters).  For example, if 20 horses are entered in the Derby, the horse finishing first will receive 100 points. The horse finishing last will receive one point. All horses in between will receive points based on a sliding scale. If, however, only 7 horses are entered in the Preakness, first place will only receive 50 points.

WINNER SELECTION

This is a game of skill. Winners will be determined by the objective criteria set forth above. From all eligible entries received, the winners will be the players who accumulate the most points during the Darby Dan Fantasy Triple Crown Challenge contest according to these "Official Rules." Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible registrations received and skill level of each entrant.

The player who accumulates the most points in each race will receive $100. In the case of a tie, the winner will be determined by the player who correctly selected the winner and most closely guessed the winning lengths without going over.

In the event of a tie between two or more eligible entrants, the grand prize winner will be the entrant with the greatest cumulative number of winning horses chosen throughout the race series. In the event that a tie still remains, the winner will be chosen by a blind draw.

Winners will be determined before 5:00 p.m. EDT, June 9th, 2008. Winning entries must confirm residence and eligibility to receive prizes.

PRIZES

The entrant with the highest number of points for each race will receive $100. The grand prize winner - that being the entrant with the greatest number of cumulative points at the end of the 3 races - will have their choice of the following:

  • One no-guarantee season to the stallion Sun King for use in the 2009 breeding season.  This NG season is non-transferable.
  • Two (2) reserved seat tickets to the 2008 Breeders' Cup World Championship (does not include transportation or hotel accomodations.)

NOTIFICATION

Winners will be notified by e-mail, regular mail or telephone within seven (7) days after the date the winners are determined. Winners may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and acceptance of these "Official Rules" and a publicity/liability release (unless prohibited by law) within fifteen (15) days following attempted notification.

By accepting any prize, the winner (and, if applicable, companion) grant permission to Darby Dan Farm to use their name(s) and/or likeness(es) for publicity and promotional purposes without further compensation, unless prohibited by law, and agree to execute written consent.
