Leading Third-Crop Sire Shackleford was represented by a $200,000 filly at Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton July Sale, the traditional kick-off auction of the yearling sales season.

Bluewater Sales, agent, consigned the chestnut filly, hip No. 233, with Alex and Jo Ann Lieblong the winning bidders.

The Kentucky-bred's family is loaded with black type. She is the first foal out of the unraced Elusive Quality mare French Passport, who is a half-sister to both millionaire and multiple graded stakes winner Smooth Air and Sanford S. (G2) winner Overdriven. Also under the first four dams are Grade 1 winner and sire New Year's Day and Grade 2 winner Mohaymen.

On the racetrack this year, Shackleford's seven stakes horses include Fountain of Youth (G2) winner Promises Fulfilled and Grade 3 winner Princess Sophia.
