Tapiture's Keeneland November sale weanlings have been some of the most popular of any first-crop sire at the auction, and that trend continued on Nov. 13 when the Darby Dan stallion had the top two colts of the session.

First on the list was hip No. 2271, consigned by Darby Dan, agent, and purchased by B. K. Bloodstock for $150,000. The bay colt's female family is loaded with graded stakes winners such as Leading Counsel (G1), Price Tag (G1), Privity (G2) and Zindari (G3).

Earlier in the session hip No. 2155, consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent, went to Clear Ridge Stables for $130,000. Another colt whose family is loaded with black type, including three-time track record-setter Jet Freighter and champion Giboulee.

Through Monday's session of the Nov. 7-18 sale, Tapiture's weanling average of $132,000 is out-pacing other first-crop sires such as Carpe Diem, Tonalist, Palace Malice and Wicked Strong.

Tapiture bred 341 mares in his first two books and will stand the 2018 season for $7,500 stands and nurses.
