Tapiture filly rolls by six in career debut

Vacherie Girl came from well off the pace to capture her debut by a widening six lengths Nov. 28 at Fair Grounds, making her the 22nd winner from Tapiture’s first crop of runners.

Tapiture trails only American Pharoah, who has 40 more named foals than the Darby Dan stallion.

Vacherie Girl, trained by Steve Asmussen, was near the back of the pack early on, but kicked into gear with three furlongs to run and flew past the field in the stretch to win with plenty in reserve (VIDEO).

The winner was bred by Georgia Farms Inc. and is owned by William and Corinne Heiligbrodt.
