First-crop sire Tale of Ekati got his third winner from just five starters on Saturday when the 2-year-old filly Saffron broke her maiden by 1 1/4-lengths at Hastings Park.

Saffron, owned by Mark DeDomenico and North American Thoroughbred Horse Company, is one of three winners out of Tchopitoulas and hails from the same family as multiple graded stakes winner Mamselle Bebette.
