Top-10 first-crop sire Run Away and Hide continued to climb the Freshman Sire list with his ninth winner on Dec. 29. Take It Like a Man scored an authoritative 2 3/4-length victory going six furlongs a Fair Grounds. Run Away and Hide has five stakes horses this year, fourth-most among all freshman sires.

Take It Like a Man, a chestnut colt, made a three-wide move around the turn, eventually gaining the lead just inside the sixteenth pole to prove best late. Owned by Built Wright Stables LLC, the winner netted $15,600 for his first career win.

Kentucky bred Take It Like a Man is one of six winners out of Backatem, who has also produced five-time stakes winner Running Bobcats. Backatem is a half-sister to the millionaire Shadowbdancing.
