The lone Sun King offering at the March 13-14 OBS 2-year-old sale attracted plenty of attention from buyers, going for $75,000, 7.5 times his 2012 stud fee of $10,000. The juvenile is from the second crop of the Darby Dan stallion.

Cataloged as hip No. 209, the dark bay or brown colt was consigned by Kings Equine, agent and purchased by southern California based trainer Vladimir Cerin.

The well-bred colt comes from an outstanding family. His dam, Willow Woodman, has produced the multiple graded stakes winner Willow o Wisp, who won seven of eight turf starts and set a track record in the nine furlong Del Mar Derby (G2); California Oaks winner and grade 1 placed Will o Way; and Kizzy's Chaos, who set a track record in Hollywood Park's Gallant Man S.
