Sparkling show for Shackleford colt at Keeneland

Meantime rolled to a 7 1/2-length maiden special weight win April 22 at Keeneland in the two-turn debut for the 3-year-old Shackleford colt (VIDEO).

After showing plenty of promise in a pair of one-turn efforts this year at Gulfstream Park, Meantime proved emphatically on Saturday that two turns were exactly what he wanted. Controlling the pace from the start, the chestnut colt blasted away from the field in the final quarter mile to get the 1 1/8-miles in 1:51.98 over a sealed and laboring race track.

Bred by Brent and Beth Harris, Meantime is out of the stakes-place mare Livermore Leslie, who is also the dam of three-time Grade 1 winner Sweet Reason, Grade 3 winner Don't Forget Gil and the stakes winner Battle Girl.

Owned by Silverton Hill, Meantime sold for $230,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
