Lalo's Baby Bear, a 4-year-old by Perfect Soul (IRE), won his 2010 bow with a four length victory in the feature at Arlington Park on May 13. The bay gelding has now won two of four lifetime starts.

The 6 1/2-furlong first-level allowance was contested over the Polytrack surface. Breaking from post position 10, Lalo's Baby Bear went right to the front, dueling for the lead with Frosted Rhythm through the first half-mile. Lalo's Baby Bear put his foe away in the upper stretch and was never seriously threatened thereafter. The win was worth $18,900 for breeder/owner Ed Fortino

This May has been a very good month for third-crop sire Perfect Soul, who has seven winners through May 13. The Darby Dan stallion is the sire of Canadian Classic winner Perfect Shower, who took the Breeders' S., the third leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.
