Madrugador's maiden special weight victory on July 24 gave Shackleford his sixth winner from his first crop, which leads all Freshman Sires of 2016. Madrugador, based at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico, won the 5 1/2-furlong contest by a neck.

The 2-year-old filly was bred in Kentucky by Charles Merrick and RNA'ed for $110,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Madrugador is the first foal out of Elusive Tara, sister to stakes winner Miss Chatelaine.

Shackleford's five previous winners have all come in maiden special weight races, including TDN Rising Stars Wellabled and Shackin Up.
