A colt from the first crop of Top-5 Freshman Sire Shackleford sold for $260,000 early during Day 2 of the June 14-17 OBS June Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, the highest price paid for a colt at this point in the four-day auction.

Consigned by RiceHorse Stables, Agent for Emerald Sales, hip No. 310 went to Oaklawn Park owner Charles Cella. The Kentucky-bred colt had breezed a furlong in 10 seconds flat during last week's Under Tack Show.

The bay colt's dam, Flashy Future, has three foals to race, including the stakes-placed Fancy and Flashy. Flashy Future is a sister to a trio of stakes winners, including Grade 1-placed Lacquaria.

With six starters to date from his first crop, Shackleford already has three maiden special weight winners, tied for second among all Freshman sires.
