A colt from the second crop of Shackleford brought a winning bid of $300,000 during the Thursday session of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, which runs April 25-28.

Consigned by hip No. 731 by Eddie Woods, agent, the chestnut sold to Doubles Partners Stables.

The colt's dam Make a Promise is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Essence, and her third dam Patelin has several Grade 1 winners in her first two generations, led by Champion 2-year-old Filly Pleasant Stage.

Shackleford currently leads the North American Second-Crop Sire list with more than $1.4 million in progeny earnings date, topped by Kentucky Derby (G1) contender Malagacy.
