Leading Second-Crop sire Shackleford’s top lot brought a winning bid of $240,000 at Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton July sale in central Kentucky.

The colt, cataloged as hip No. 22 and consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, LLC, went to Sagamore Farm LLC.

The well-bred bay is out of Lunargal, a stakes winner who has produced six horses to race, all winners, including the Grade 2-placed Random Walk. Lunargal is a half-sister to top-quality runners such as Lunarpal, a multiple graded winner at 2, Astrology, also a graded winner at 2 and now a sire, and the stakes-winning 2-year-old filly Lunarlady.

Shackleford currently ranks in the top three on the Second-Crop Sire list by winners and progeny earnings.
