First-crop sire Shackleford had a sales average of $226,667 during Day 1 of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, the highest figure for any sire with more than one lot sold during the session.

Topping the day was hip No. 128, a filly consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds that went to Narvick International for $310,000, the top-priced filly and second-highest overall of Tuesday's session. The filly is out of the Vindication mare Royal Affection, sister to stakes winners Tiger Ride and Ol Donyo.

A little later in the session hip No. 242, consigned by Envision Equine, went to Ray Willis et al $280,000. The colt is a half-brother to graded stakes-placed Pedaltothemetal and from the same family as Grade 2 winner Concave.

Shackleford has a total of 12 lots remaining in the four-day sale, which runs through April 22.
