The first weanling offered at auction by Classic winner Shackleford topped the Oct. 6-7 Fasig-Tipton Fall sale with a winning bid of $150,000.

The youngster was consigned by Rhapsody Farm LLC/Hidden Lake Farm LLC as agents, with Palermo farm placing the winning bid for the chestnut colt. The New York bred is out of the multiple winner Spanish Post, a half-sister to stakes winner Spanish Decree. The colt’s family includes champion Cracovia, as well as two-time track record-setter and multiple graded winner Silver Timber.

Shackleford, who was bred to 168 mares last year, has 32 weanlings cataloged for the upcoming Keeneland Breeding Stock sale. Additionally, the three-time Grade 1 winner is the covering sire for 17 mares in the Nov. 4-14 auction.
