Shackleford’s Dream It Is shines bright in Schuylerville S. (G3)

Dream It Is put on a show in the Saratoga stretch on Friday afternoon as the 2-year-old Shackleford filly blew away the competition in the $150,000 Schuylerville S. (G3), winning by nine lengths in the opening-day feature on Friday’s card.

Dream It Is came into the Schuylerville off a pair of wins at Woodbine, including the $100,000 My Dear S., over the synthetic racing surface. Dream It Is to Saratoga’s traditional dirt like a seasoned pro, breaking very well out of the gate to get locked in a three-way battle for the lead. The first quarter-mile went in a very rapid :21.99. 

As the field neared the quarter pole, Dream It Is’ jockey Luis Contreras was peeking back for competition as he ranged up alongside Buy Sell Hold to challenge for the lead. Riding with supreme confidence, Contreras shook the reins at Dream It Is, and she quickly sprinted away and was all alone in mid-stretch.

The winner stopped the timer in 1:11.85 for the six furlongs on a fast track.

“It's amazing, what can I say? To win a race and to win it like that,” trainer Barbara Minshall said. “We came with a horse that we thought was a good filly and had a shot but I can't say expected her to run as good as she did. It's ultimately the owner's decision of where we'll go next. I can't say the [Grade 1, $350,000] Spinaway [September 2] for certain but it's definitely a maybe.”

Owned by the Hudson Family’s Hoolie Racing Stable, Dream It Is is perfect in three starts and has earned $162,447. 
Bred in Kentucky by Chiyoda Farm, Dream It Is was a $50,000 Keeneland September Yearling sale purchase. She is one of Shackleford’s seven stakes horses in 2017 and is one of the two graded stakes winners this year for the #3 sire on Second-Crop Sire list.
