Perfect Soul (Ire) sired his second Saratoga stakes performer in 11 days, when Perfect Shower ran a close second in the John’s Call Stakes at the Spa on Friday.

Charles Fipke’s homebred Classic winner was perfectly at home over the historic course, biding his time patiently under Johnny Velazquez, before commencing his rally on the far turn. Perfect Shower was forced wide and caught in heavy traffic, yet battled willingly through the final furlongs to just miss the win by a length, while giving the winner 2 lbs.

From the first crop by his sire, Perfect Shower is now a stakes performer in two countries, and has career earnings of nearly $400,000. He follows closely the Saratoga Graded stakes victory by Perfect Shirl in the July 28 Lake George S. (G2) over the same course.

Perfect Soul has now sired eight stakes horses and over $2.8 million in earnings from his first two crops. He is the leading sire by Sadler’s Wells at stud in Kentucky. He stood the 2010 Season at Darby Dan for $15,000, live foal.
