First-crop sire Shackleford had a sales-best $340,000 colt during Day 3 of the OBS April 19-22 Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, 

The colt, hip No. 790, was consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc., agent, and went to Carolyn Wilson. The bay colt, named Chief Ruling, is out of Expressive Diva, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Ringaskiddy.

Shackleford has been one of the top freshman sires by average through the first three days of the sale, with a total of 8 lots bringing an average of $141,000. He has five remaining lots in Friday's final session.
