Runaway Raj steps out to win by 6 in debut

First-time starter Runaway Raj cruised to a six-length maiden special weight victory [VIDEO] Aug. 14 to boost his sire Run Away and Hide into the top 5 on the Freshman Sire List.


The Darby Dan stallion, who was undefeated at two with wins in the Saratoga Special (G2) and the Kentucky S. (G3), now has five winners to date, with $220,654 in earnings.

Runaway Raj won as easy as his 7-5 odds suggested, breaking first out of the gate and increasing his margin every step of the way. He got the five furlongs in :58.71.

Owned by Mast Thoroughbreds, Runaway Raj earned $21,000 for the win. The Indiana-bred is out of Rajadiddle, who has also produced seven-time stakes winner and $647,642 earner Travelator, and Top Shoter, four-time black type winner of $338,649.
