Perfect Soul, the Grade 1 winner and Grade 1 sire by Sadler's Wells, will stand at Darby Dan Farm in 2013 for a fee of $7,500 stands & nurses.
“Chuck Fipke has done a tremendous job breeding and racing such top Grade 1-winning colts as Tale of Ekati and Jersey Town, but Perfect Soul was his first masterpiece,” said John Phillips, owner of Darby Dan. “Perfect Soul's proven to be a Grade 1 winner and Grade 1 sire, including siring a Breeders' Cup champion a year ago, and he's the last son of the breed-shaping sire Sadler's Wells standing in America. We're grateful to Mr. Fipke to have Perfect Soul join our expanding roster for 2013.”
Perfect Soul has enjoyed international success as a sire, hailing as a perennial leading sire in Canada and generating progeny earnings exceeding $1.5 million for four straight years. Last year, he sired Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) champion Perfect Shirl among his top performers. In 2012, his stakes horses include Grade 2-placed Hog's Hollow, 3-year-olds Rahab Your Soul & Squid, and 2-year-old Tormenta Fiera, recent runner-up in the $250,000 Cup and Saucer S. at Woodbine.
Perfect Soul's other top current runners include Canadian classic winner Perfect Shower and last year's Plate Trial S. winner Check Your Soul.
On the track, Perfect Soul was a record-setting miler and millionaire by Sadler's Wells. He captured the Shadwell turf Mile S. (G1) at Keeneland, and also established a new course record for a mile at Keeneland while winning the Maker's Mark Mile S. (G2) in 1:33 2/5. Owned and bred by Charles Fipke, Perfect Soul is out of the Secretariat mare Ball Chairman.
