Corey’s Coming, a 3-year-old filly from the first crop of Grade 1-winning millionaire Perfect Soul, overcame traffic trouble to rally and prove best in a $48,000 allowance race sprinting on the turf Sept. 7 at Saratoga.
Ridden by Kent Desormeaux for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, the bay filly stayed poised after racing in tight quarters on the turn, rallying up the rail to get her nose in front on the line. The final time was a swift 1:02.20 over the local course listed as fast.
The win was her second from five starts, as Corey’s Coming also broke her maiden at first asking in May while sprinting on the dirt at Belmont. She now owns lifetime earnings of $59,696 for owner Michael Shanley.
