Perfect Soul enjoyed another impressive maiden victor on July 24th when his 3-year-old colt Carcillo stretched out to win a $75,029 maiden special weight race at 1 1/8 miles over the local Polytrack at Woodbine Racecourse.

Trained by Michael De Paulo, Carcillo had to overcome immense trouble early in the race, as jockey Emile Ramsammy was forced to check the bay colt repeatedly heading into the opening turn. Despite the loss of momentum and falling back to nearly last down the backstretch, Carcillo rallied determinedly in the stretch to get his nose in front and prove best on the wire. The final time was 1:52.86.

The win earned Carcillo and his owner Mario Forgione $41,920. Out of the stakes-placed Afleet mare Miss a Fleet, Carcillo was bred in Ontario by Henley Farms.
