Two-year-old Mico Margarita scored a handy three-quarter length maiden victory on Sept. 15 to give his sire Run Away and Hide his seventh winner from his first crop. The Darby Dan stallion ranks fourth on the 2012 Freshman Sire list, with his progeny amassing $386,306 in earnings.
Mico Margarita led at every call in the six furlong contest for 2-year-olds, getting the distance in a quick 1:09.32 and earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 81. The chestnut colt has earned in his two outings, with a third-place finish in his debut a month ago at Saratoga.
Bred in Kentucky by Ron Kirk and Greg McDonald, Mico Margarita is out of the unraced City Zip mare Wide Range. Her dam Ivanavinalot was a four-time stakes winner of $647,300, with a career highlight win in the Grade 2 Bonnie Miss S.
