Jersey's Soul drew off to a five-length victory to break her maiden Sunday at Golden Gate Fields. The chestnut filly by Perfect Soul (IRE) is a half-sister to Jersey Town, winner of the Grade 1 Cigar Mile, who is beginning his stud career in 2013 at Darby Dan Farm, where he will stand for $10,000 LFS&N.

Making her first start of 2013, the Charles Fipke homebred was full of run in the stretch, coming from fourth after a half-mile to get the six furlongs in a lively 1:10.45. Trained by Tim McCanna, Jersey's Soul netted $16,200 for the win.

Perfect Soul, who will stand this year for $7,500 at Darby Dan, had a big week on the track. In addition to Jersey's Soul, the 15-year-old stallion had a pair of allowance winners and the runner-up Golden Soul in the Grade 3 Lecomte S. at Fair Grounds, putting the 3-year-old on the 2013 Kentucky Derby (G1) trail.
