Jersey Justice impresses in stakes debut

Jersey Justice won his stakes debut in Wednesday's $100,000 Hillsdale S. at Indiana Downs, coasting to a 2 1/2-length victory in the six-furlong affair for 2-year-olds (VIDEO).

The Jersey Town colt was making his stakes debut after breaking his maiden in his career bow in late June over the same surface. He is Jersey Town's third stakes horse this year.

With a sharp break Jersey Justice and jockey DeShawn Parker were between horses in a three-way battle for the lead. The bay colt began to pull ahead with three furlongs to run, opening up by four lengths in mid-stretch before hitting the wire comfortably ahead of late-closing Buck Dynasty

“This colt was really good, he really did everything right today,” said Parker. “Going down the backside when the outside horse came up on him (Its Just Fate) he wanted to take off a little and I had to ease him back just a little, but he did everything that was asked of him. I actually had the opportunity to get on him the other morning. I just appreciate the opportunity that (trainer) Tom (Amoss) and (owner) Maggi Moss gave me today to ride him.”

Jersey Justice has now won two of three starts and earned $83,683. He is out of the stakes winner Vain Vixen, dam of four winners to date, including another stakes winner in Dangerous Vixen.
