Darby Dan Farm’s freshman sire Dialed In, the Florida Derby (G1) winner by Mineshaft, was represented with his first winner from his first starter, when 2-year-old filly Maximum Edge scored an impressive debut victory in a $44,000 Maiden Special Weight on Friday at Churchill Downs [VIDEO].

Trained by William Connelly, Maximum Edge stalked the early pacesetter in the 4 ½-furlong event before proving best in the stretch, hitting the wire on top in 51.44 seconds over a fast local main track.

Maximum Edge earned $24,000 for owner Bernard G. Schaeffer, who purchased the gray filly for $160,000 a couple of months ago at OBS March after she breezed a quick eighth of a mile in 10 seconds flat. Bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm, Maximum Edge is out of the Street Boss mare Champagne Sparkle, a full sister to Grade 1 winner and Kentucky Derby-placed Danza, as well as a half-sister to Grade 1-winning millionaire Majestic Harbor.

On the track, Dialed In became the favorite for the 2011 Kentucky Derby after impressive wins in the Holy Bull S. (G3) and Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream. By A.P. Indy’s Horse of the Year Mineshaft, Dialed In is out of the Storm Cat mare Miss Doolittle. He’s currently standing at Darby Dan for a fee of $7,500 stands and nurses.
