Freshman sire Suave records second winner

Tlaquepaque became the second winner for his sire Suave with a victory in his debut on June 18. Suave stands at Darby Dan Farm and has a reported 84 two-year-olds in his first crop.

The two-year-old colt was an easy 7 3/4-length winner in a maiden special weight race at Hastings Park in Vancouver, Canada. The dark bay was purchased by his owner/trainer Juan Carlos Lara Olmos at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale. He is the first foal out of the winning mare Dynamic Delux. She is a half-sister to Outcashem, winner of seven stakes and over $500,000.

A nine-year-old by A.P. Indy out of multiple Grade 1 winner Urbane, by Citidancer, Suave won seven of 27 career starts over four seasons and earned $1,348,423. He won the 2006 Washington Park Handicap (G2) at Arlington Park in track-record time of 1:53.53 for 1 3/16-miles. His other graded wins came in the 2005 Saratoga Breeders’ Cup Handicap (G2) and the 2004 Northern Dancer Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs. He also finished second in the ’05 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1).
