First Tapiture weanling offered sells for $300,000

Multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire Tapiture's first-ever foal was auctioned Thursday at Keeneland for $300,000 to winning bidder Hunter Valley Farm.

Legacy Bloodstock, agent, was the consignor of hip No. 587, a bay colt out of the Officer mare Lady Leftennant, who is a sister to four stakes winners and has also produced four winners herself.

Tapiture was a graded stakes winner at two, three, and four, and also was second in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1), earning more than $1.5 million. In his first two years at stud, he bred 341 mares, and will stand at Darby Dan Farm in 2018 for a fee of $7,500 stands and nurses.
