Charles Fipke’s Seeking the Title ran as though she were seeking a championship title, with her sharp victory in the $200,000 Iowa Oaks (G3) on June 26.

Under a confident ride by Calvin Borel, the 3-year-old daughter of Seeking the Gold out of Title Seeker, by Monarchos took command inside the eighth pole, and drove to a half-length victory over a full field of stakes fillies. Seeking the Title was seeking a bit more good luck then she has had all season, having dropped her rider in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Preakness Day, and raced wide throughout in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes on Belmont Day. An impressive winner at Oaklawn and third in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) this winter, Seeking the Title has a career record to 6-2-0-1 and $166,548 for her owner/breeder and trainer Dallas Stewart.

Seeking the Title has always been highly regarded, since Mr. Fipke purchased her in utero for $1,700,000. Her dam is a daughter of Personal Ensign, and two of her first three dams are Broodmares of the Year. Seeking the Title was foaled and raised at Darby Dan, and her dam is still boarded at the farm.
