It's been more than 8 months since the retirement of one of racing's most beautiful and exciting race mares, Winter Memories. Since then, I've tried to find time to write an in-depth blog about her that includes the history of Darby Dan Farm and Phillips Racing Partnership...
Eye of Taurus 7th GSW of 2010 for Darby Dan Sales

Darby Dan Farm and Sales graduate Eye of Taurus charged to a daylight victory in the 33rd running of the Athenia H. (G3) at Belmont on October 16, becoming the seventh Graded stakes winner of 2010 for Darby Dan Sales.

The 4-year-old daughter of Aldeberan out of Ocean Shore, by Silver Hawk, was coming off a September 11 victory in the Revidere Stakes at Monmouth. In the $100,000 Athenia, she bided her time on the outside under Eddie Castro, then did her most serious running from the eighth pole home. Final margin at the wire was three lengths, over the Belmont turf course which was softened by rain.

Eye of Taurus also won the Valley View Stakes (G3) at Keeneland last year, and has now compiled a stellar record of 19-6-3-3 and $309,630 for owner Harvey Clarke and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

Eye of Taurus was bred in Kentucky by Wayne Sweezy and Patrick Lawley-Wakelin, and sold by Darby Dan at the 2007 Keeneland September Sale. Just four other consignors have sold more Graded stakes winners this year from yearling sales.
