Charles Fipke’s Seeking the Title continued a very good 2010 season with a sharp second in the $200,000 Monmouth Oaks (G3) on Aug. 14. Seeking the Title was foaled and raised at Darby Dan, and her dam is still boarded at the farm.
In the Monmouth Oaks, Seeking the Title settled in the back of the six horse field four the first half of the 1 1/16-mile race. She launched her bid on the far turn, and made up about ten length in the final half-mile to finish a fast-closing 1 1/2-lengths behind post-time favorite No Such Word.
An impressive winner in the Iowa Oaks (G3) at Prairie Meadows in June, Seeking the Title now has a career record to 8-2-1-1 and $214,048 for her owner/breeder and trainer Dallas Stewart.
Seeking the Title has always been highly regarded, since Mr. Fipke purchased her in utero for $1,700,000. Her dam is a daughter of Personal Ensign, and two of her first three dams are Broodmares of the Year.
